Ms. Oreo

Hi! I'm Ms. Oreo.

I've recently returned from Japan to start a journey to get my Masters in Teaching at Washington State University - Vancouver.  This blog, as it currently stands, is to be used for a literacy course. So you'll be getting a little reading and writing as I work my way through my course. Will it remain after the course is finished? That remains to be seen.

A little about me?  I have spent most of my adult life in Japan and that impacts how I view the world and interact with it. I speak Japanese, and in my free time often translate passion projects. I love to travel and explore new places. I'm passionate about literacy and social justice. I love art. I love coffee. I'm loud, opinionated, passionate, joyful. I think life not spent laughing is not spent well. Our world is absurd. Absurdly beautiful, absurdly strange, absurdly cruel, absurdly magical. Sometimes all you can do in the face of absurdity is laugh.

I think that's probably why I am drawn to education. Children still see the world as absurdly magical and that's a gift to be protected... and cultivated.
