  1. Alex,

I adore your 'Crunch Like' poem! It's so descriptive and the background of your final fits perfectly with it and provides a "happy feeling" to me (thank you for that). Overall, your portfolio is beautifully laid out: I just took pictures and screenshots of my 5 pieces of work so it looks very bland, especially in comparison to yours. Absolutely lovely work! I'd love to know what made you think of designing your portfolio the way you did. How much time did it take to create everything into one document?

  2. Alex,

This portfolio is amazing. I can tell you worked really hard at making it great. You are a natural storyteller, I found myself laughing and enjoying each piece because of this. Especially the story about your goats. Do you write a lot typically? It just seems so easy for you. The only thing I noticed to give any feedback on was a couple of typos. They didn't take anything away from your writing though.

  3. Everything you do is flawless! This entire portfolio is beautiful, artistic and complete. I wouldn't even know how to begin to create something like this. I am always in awe of your talents!

  4. I love the tiger balm piece, it is so true about the smell. As a kid I hated it but now I use it all the time. Great piece about the nostalgia and how smell has such an impact on what brings us to our past. I love the pictures and illustrations done they are beautiful and make a huge impact on how we see the writing.

  5. I mean...Alex, this is a masterpiece. I agree with Erin; truly everything you do is exceptional. I am so glad you made the move back from Japan (although I am sure you miss it) to start this program with us. I have learned so much from you this term and know I will probably continue to do so. Your writings are exceptional and your artistry is something to be completely admired. I am in love with your goat story, probably because I am obsessed with animals and I love goats. I am currently trying to get my parents to get some at their property. Well done my friend, cannot wait to keep learning from you and seeing how much you out-do me in other projects :) you are the best!

  6. Overall, your writing and storytelling felt so natural and like I was sitting in a room listening to my grandma tell stories of her childhood.

Tiger Balm made me so nostalgic for those small childhood moments and it also made me laugh at the things kids get hung up on.

I loved how you captured fall with one sound in "Crunch like"

Also, get it with those canva designs, girl!

  7. Alex -- Wow! Everything look so professional and put together! I have enjoyed learning about your experiences in Japan since I lived in Japan as well. I really enjoyed reading the Tiger Balm storybook, as I am alway interested in learning about other ways to treat ailments. I am interested in learning fro you how you created your blog. I am sure others are a well. Would you have time to do a short presentation on how to create a blog of this caliber?

  8. Alex..you seriously blew me away! I was laughing when you talked about how your mom wanted goats so bad, emphasis on 'pigme'. And the fact that you named them Bill and Ted! I think that your writing is well done and expressive. I related with 'Which Millennial are You?' and I wish that I could say I am a plant person;) Thank you for sharing these with us. I'm curious about what plants you are going to get next..hello 2021!
